Left: <strong>Indian River Central School\u2019s<\/strong> 2024 entry \u201cDiversity\u201d was the \u201cPeople\u2019s Choice Award\u201d winner and also won the \u201cTop Collection Award\u201d with more than 2,600 canned goods and other nonperishable items collected. Middle: <strong>Canton Central\u2019s Banford Elementary School<\/strong> won the 2024 \u201cBest Design Award\u201d for its \u201ccanstruction\u201d of \u201cWe CAN build our ABCs.\u201d Right: <strong>General Brown High School\u2019s<\/strong> 2023 entry \u201cThe Giving Tree\u201d took \u201cPeople\u2019s Choice\u201d and the \u201cTop Collection\u201d awards. residents with essential needs.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Canstruction instills philanthropic values in students who want to give back.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The competition builds school spirit around a difference-making project.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Students compete to win grant awards for another nonprofit they care about most.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What are the rules?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Registration is open through <strong>Friday, February 27<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>All projects must be submitted by <strong>Thursday, April 2<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A sample project calendar is included in the Canstruction guidelines, which may be downloaded below.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Don\u2019t forget to select a local food pantry or awards<\/strong> will be decided in the following categories:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Top Collection Award (most items donated\/collected)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Best Design Award<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>People\u2019s Choice Award (Online vote)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Each winning team will then distribute its $500 grant award to a local nonprofit organization \u2014 federally classified 501(c)3 \u2014 serving Jefferson, Lewis, and St. Lawrence counties.
