Community Foundation Scholarship Encourages Aspiring Veterinarians, Techs Who Plan to Practice in North Country<\/i><\/span><\/h3>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0The Northern New York Community Foundation and Frances Anderson Luck recently formed a partnership through the establishment of the Frances Anderson Luck Foundation.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span>The fund will provide scholarships to residents of Jefferson and St. Lawrence counties who have been accepted to, or are enrolled in, American Veterinary Medical Association-accredited veterinary doctor or veterinary technician programs, with a focus on small animal practice, especially canines.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span>Ideal recipients will have a sincere desire to remain in or return to the North Country to pursue a career. Scholarship applicants must be enrolled in college-level studies or programs in the summer or fall of the current year and will be awarded based upon academic achievement, accomplishments and interests, as well as participation in and demonstration of leadership in school-oriented and community activities.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span>The scholarship fund was established to recognize the lifelong love of animals, especially dogs. Mrs. Luck is especially fond of dachshunds and presently has a 7-year-old female, named Dolly. Her goal is to make a tangible difference in the life of animals by increasing the number of qualified veterinary staff the region.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span>The Northern New York Community Foundation is grateful to Mrs. Luck for the honor and opportunity to be part of supporting her passions now and in the future.<\/span><\/p>\n
