Davis Fund awarded $10,000 in grants to support six projects in the Lowville area. The fund serves as a permanent resource for projects that will enhance the quality of life in the village and town of Lowville in perpetuity.<\/p>\n<p>Three grants totaling $5,000 in support of three endeavors were also awarded from Dale Kenyon Community Fund, which is designed to annually support organizations serving residents in the town of Clayton.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>\u201cGeographic-specific funds are a great way to benefit specific regions that donors have a particular interest in. Both of these funds will forever provide support for meaningful programs and projects. We are grateful to Mr. Davis and Mr. Kenyon for having the vision and willingness to invest in the changing needs of their respective communities,\u201d said Rande S. Richardson, Community Foundation executive director.<\/p>\n<p>Selections for the Davis Fund were made by a committee consisting of the Court Attorney\/Clerk for the Lewis County Judge, the Superintendent of Lowville Academy and the Mayor of the Village of Lowville. The six approved grants are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Lowville Rural Cemetery Association &#8211; $3,000 <\/strong>to help purchase cemetery management software. <em>This project will also be funded by an additional grant from the Joan Davis Fund.<\/em><\/li>\n<li><strong>First Presbyterian Church &#8211; $2,000<\/strong> to assist with repairs to the church\u2019s steeple clock in the village of Lowville.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Lowville Free Library &#8211; $2,000<\/strong> to be used to purchase indoor and outdoor signage at the library.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Lewis County Hospital Foundation &#8211; $1,000<\/strong> to help expand patio seating in the hospital\u2019s outdoor respite area.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Village of Lowville &#8211; $1,000 <\/strong>to enhance security at Veteran\u2019s Memorial Park through the purchase of additional lighting and cameras for the site.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Town of Lowville &#8211; $1,000 <\/strong>for the restoration of a series of headstones at Jackson Street cemetery.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The three grants approved from the Kenyon Community Fund are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Clayton Council of Churches Food Pantry &#8211; $3,000 <\/strong>to enhance the support at the local food pantry. This grant is in collaboration with St. Mary\u2019s Church in Clayton.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Clayton Jazz Festival &#8211; $1,500 <\/strong>to support the festival\u2019s performances in September. The festival is in collaboration with the Thousand Islands Performing Arts Fund and Clayton Opera House.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Depauville Free Library &#8211; $500 <\/strong>to supplement the organization\u2019s seed library program.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Northern New York Community Foundation makes grants to support the work of non-profit organizations and provides scholarships to individuals in Jefferson, Lewis and St. Lawrence Counties.
