Students may access the application portal, create a user account, and begin an online application by clicking on <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/nnycf.communityforce.com\/Login.aspx\">2019-2020 Freshman Scholarship Application<\/a><\/strong>.\u00a0<\/span>All Community Foundation freshman scholarship\u00a0<span class=\"s1\">applications are due <b>Monday, April 15<\/b>, through the online portal. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><b><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-1688 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/nnycf.org\/new\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/Students_web.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"302\" height=\"201\" srcset=\"https:\/\/nnycf.org\/new\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/Students_web-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/nnycf.org\/new\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/Students_web-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/nnycf.org\/new\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/Students_web.jpg 1000w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 302px) 100vw, 302px\" \/><\/span><\/b><\/span><span class=\"s1\"><b>\u00a0<\/b>High school seniors from Jefferson, Lewis and St. Lawrence counties who will be enrolled as full-time undergraduates this fall may apply for a one-year, freshman scholarship. Students pursuing technical, trade or vocational school may also apply and should complete the same application. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><b><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span><\/b>Since 1980, the Community Foundation has awarded more than $17 million in scholarship awards to students living in the tri-county region. The Community Foundation annually administers nearly 400 restricted scholarships established by individual donors and scholarship funds on behalf of 28 school districts throughout Jefferson, Lewis, and St. Lawrence counties.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><b><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span><\/b>\u201cProviding support to North Country students remains a core component of the Community Foundation\u2019s\u00a0<span class=\"s1\">annual investment in the tri-county region. Opportunities for students continue to grow as many new individuals, organizations and school districts have partnered with the Community Foundation in the past <\/span>year to provide generous financial awards and support,\u201d said Rande S. Richardson, Community Foundation <span class=\"s1\">executive director. \u201cWe look forward to helping all applicants on their paths to achieving educational goals again this year.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><b><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span><\/b>Several scholarships require students to complete application packets that can be downloaded and\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s2\">printed from the Community Foundation\u2019s website at <a href=\"https:\/\/nnycf.org\/new\/scholarships\/applications\"><b>www.nnycf.org\/scholarships\/applications<\/b><\/a> and\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s2\"><a href=\"https:\/\/nnycf.org\/new\/scholarships\/scholarships-available\"><b>www.nnycf.org\/scholarships\/scholarships-available<\/b><\/a>. Deadlines for scholarships that require unique applications vary. The first deadline is <b>Friday, March 15<\/b>, for the North Central Zone New York State<\/span><span class=\"s1\"> Retired Teachers\u2019 Association Scholarship, followed by <b>Wednesday, March 27<\/b>, for the North Country Goes Green Irish Festival Scholarship awards.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><b><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span><\/b>Students should thoroughly read all application instructions. Completed packets must be returned or postmarked by the deadline to the address specified in each application. Students must include a complete, signed application, an essay, appraisal forms, references and transcripts.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p5\"><span class=\"s1\"><b>Additional programs, opportunities<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\"><b><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span><\/b>The Community Foundation also administers the following scholarship funds and programs with applications available for download from <a href=\"https:\/\/nnycf.org\/new\/scholarships\/applications\"><b>www.nnycf.org\/scholarships\/applications<\/b><\/a>:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><b><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span><\/b><\/span><span class=\"s1\"><b>Nontraditional Student Scholarship <\/b>\u2014<b> <\/b><\/span><span class=\"s2\">Awarded to applicants who live in Jefferson, Lewis or\u00a0<\/span>St. Lawrence counties. Eligible applicants may be enrolled full- or part-time in college or a technical, trade or vocational school. Completed packets for this program are due by Saturday, June 1, 2018.<\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><b><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span><\/b><\/span><span class=\"s1\"><b>Evergreen STEM Scholarship Fund <\/b>\u2014 Awards ten, $3,000 scholarships annually to St. Lawrence County high school juniors who plan to pursue studies in STEM-related fields \u2014 science, technology, engineering and math. <\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><b><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span><\/b><\/span><span class=\"s1\"><b>Jefferson-Can Community Scholars Program<\/b>, <\/span><span class=\"s2\">in partnership with the Jefferson Community College alumnus Stephen H. Can and the Jefferson Community College Foundation. This merit-based award is offered to high school seniors in the top 15 percent their class who plan to attend Jefferson Community College.<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><b><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span><\/b><\/span><span class=\"s1\"><b>Herring College Memorial Scholarship<\/b> \u2014 Awarded to students in engineering, sciences, mathematics and related fields, as well as the Visiting Nurses Association Scholarship for students pursuing continued education in nursing or health-related fields.<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><b><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span><\/b><\/span><span class=\"s1\"><b>Rotary Purple Heart Scholarship<\/b> \u2014 Available to residents of Jefferson, Lewis or St. Lawrence\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">County who were awarded a Purple Heart by the U.S. armed forces or are a dependent \u2014 spouse or child \u2014 of a U.S. military member or veteran who was awarded the Purple Heart. Purple Heart Scholarship applications are reviewed throughout the year until all available funds for the academic year are awarded.<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><b><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span><\/b><\/span><span class=\"s1\"><b>10th Mountain Division (Light) Scholarship<\/b> \u2014 Awarded to active or former 10th Mountain Division (Light Infantry) members or family members \u2014 spouse or child \u2014 of an active or former 10th Mountain Division soldier. The applicant or their military sponsor must also be a member of the National Association of the 10th Mountain Division. Scholarship applicants may live anywhere and be in any year of full-time undergraduate study.<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><b><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span><\/b><\/span><span class=\"s1\"><b>George C. Boldt Scholarship<\/b> \u2014 <\/span>Available to Jefferson County residents for full-time undergraduate study. Graduate study is not funded. Students who will be attending technical, trade or vocational schools are eligible to apply. Applications are accepted from high school seniors or nontraditional students who have had a break in their studies. This scholarship is a one-year award.<\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><b><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span><\/b><\/span><span class=\"s1\"><b>Frances Anderson Luck Foundation Scholarship<\/b> \u2014 A component fund of Northern New York Community Foundation offers scholarships to students accepted to or enrolled in American Veterinary Medical Association-accredited Doctor of Veterinary Medicine or veterinary technician programs with a focus on small animals, especially canines.<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><b><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0<\/span><\/b><\/span><b>Vici and Steve Diehl Foundation Graduate Scholarships<\/b> \u2014 A component fund of Northern New York Community Foundation offers scholarships to students pursuing graduate degrees in Environmental Studies or <span class=\"s1\">Music. Applicants must have graduated from a high school in Jefferson, Lewis or St. Lawrence county.<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><b><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span><\/b><\/span><b>North Pleasant Street (Watertown) Scholarship<\/b> \u2014 Available to current residents of Watertown\u2019s North <span class=\"s1\">Pleasant Street whose families have lived on North Pleasant Street for at least five years.
