\u00a0 \u00a0 WATERTOWN \u2014 <\/strong>United Way of Northern New York and the Northern New York Community Foundation are pleased to announce a collaborative partnership to provide critical education and training to community organizations in Jefferson, Lewis and St. Lawrence Counties. The UWNNY\u2019s North Country Center of Nonprofit Excellence will offer professional development workshops and skill training symposiums, which gives participants the knowledge and tools to increase organizational performance and agility.<\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0 <\/strong>\u201cThe United Way is thrilled to partner with the Community Foundation,\u201d said Jamie Cox, United Way of Northern New York chief executive officer. \u201cBy working together, we are going to have the ability to provide best-in-class training, which will result in nonprofit organizations throughout the North Country having more effective programs and increased financial efficiency. This partnership facilitates holistic community success for human service, environmental, health, educational, cultural and recreational-oriented nonprofits.\u201d\u00a0 <\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0 <\/strong>The center\u2019s 2020 curriculum includes seminars on leadership and management; grant writing; company financial management and strategy; board member boot camps; compliance and governance; interacting with the media; digital content creation; strategic planning; creation of annual operating plans; conflict management; fundraising; program management; entrepreneurship and change management; succession planning; and human relations, personnel management and developing employee performance.<\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0 <\/strong>\u201cThe Community Foundation and United Way have always shared a common goal of making life better throughout the communities of the North Country. This partnership and joining of resources bring our two organizations closer and has the potential to help all charitable dollars go further, for local nonprofits and the donors that support them,\u201d said Rande Richardson, Northern New York Community Foundation executive director.<\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0 <\/strong>The North Country Center for Nonprofit Excellence\u2019s held its first training event on Jan. 16 at the Ramada Inn, Watertown. The Leadership and Management Symposium featured keynote speaker Dr. Ty Stone, Jefferson Community College president, as well as Massena Mayor Tim Currier, former Watertown Mayor Joe Butler, Carthage Savings and Loan CEO Tom Pich\u00e9, DH Leonard Consulting & Grant Writing Services owner Diane H. Leonard, and Samaritan Health System CEO Tom Carman.<\/p>\n
