{"id":3204,"date":"2020-08-19T17:53:41","date_gmt":"2020-08-19T17:53:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nnycf.org\/new\/?p=3204"},"modified":"2020-08-19T17:54:10","modified_gmt":"2020-08-19T17:54:10","slug":"community-development-grant-awards","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nnycf.org\/new\/community-development-grant-awards\/","title":{"rendered":"Community Development Grants Awarded; Additional Funding Available"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3 class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s2\"><i>Application Open for Up to $10,000 Through Jefferson Economic Development Fund<\/i><\/span><\/h3>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s3\"><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span><\/span><b>WATERTOWN<\/b><span class=\"s1\"><b> \u2014 <\/b>Five organizations were recently awarded grants from the <b>Jefferson Economic Development Fund of the Northern New York Community Foundation<\/b>, and another round of funding is now available.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p4\"><span class=\"s1\"><b><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span><\/b><\/span>The Jefferson Economic Development Fund encourages nonprofit organizations to think creatively and broadly when examining their services and identify a correlation between their work and economic development in Jefferson County. The fund was created in 2016 through the establishment of a partnership between the Community Foundation and the nonprofit formally known as the Jefferson County Chambers of Commerce.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p class=\"p4\"><span class=\"s1\"><b><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><\/b><\/span>The first round of grants approved from the fund were:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"p4\"><span class=\"s1\"><b><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><\/b><\/span><b>Watertown First -\u2014 $3,000 <\/b>to support targeted outreach campaigns to help boost and raise the visibility of local business in downtown Watertown<\/li>\n<li class=\"p4\"><span class=\"s1\"><b><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><\/b><\/span><b>Cape Vincent Improvement League -\u2014 $2,500 <\/b>to purchase recycling and trash receptacles to help with village\u2019s maintenance and beautification efforts.<\/li>\n<li class=\"p4\"><span class=\"s1\"><b><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><\/b><\/span><b>Village of Black River -\u2014 $2,000<\/b> to be directed toward a development study of a non-motorized, five communities trail connecting the City of Watertown to Fort Drum<\/li>\n<li class=\"p4\"><span class=\"s1\"><b><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><\/b><\/span><b>Jefferson Rehabilitation Center -\u2014 $1,500 <\/b>to assist with the organization\u2019s revitalization campaign for its Gaffney Drive campus<\/li>\n<li class=\"p4\"><span class=\"s1\"><b><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><\/b><\/span><b>Disabled Persons Action Organization -\u2014 $1,000 <\/b>to support the organization\u2019s 2021 concert series season.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"p4\"><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span>Up to $10,000 is available for the second round of grant support from the Jefferson Economic Development Fund. A specific program, project or initiative may be appropriate to submit an application for funding. In the spirit of the fund\u2019s charitable purpose, the Community Foundation is aiming to support the most appropriate requests that demonstrate a clear plan for public benefit, broad promotion and progress in local economic development, and enhancement to the quality of life in Jefferson County.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p4\"><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span>The deadline to submit an application for consideration is <b>Friday, Oct. 23, 2020<\/b>.
