The Community Foundation partnered with the Board of Realtors to match up to $5,000 in charitable gifts to the effort. Several Realtors stepped up to give a total of $6,000 in a matter of weeks, which the Board of Realtors and Foundation matched.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p4\"><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span>\u201cRealtors do more than work with clients and customers to achieve their goals,\u201d said Britt Abbey, Jefferson-Lewis Board of Realtors president. \u201cRealtors are community builders, and they are more than twice as likely as the general public to donate time and resources in the communities they serve. When we launched this challenge, we knew our members would respond well. The fact that we achieved our goal in only four weeks is evidence of the level of caring for community among our Realtor members.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p4\"><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span>Seventeen food pantries and school backpack programs serving Jefferson and Lewis counties will receive support from this proactive initiative. The recipients are:<\/p>\n<p class=\"p4\"><b>Jefferson County<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"p4\">Alexandria Bay Food Pantry<\/li>\n<li class=\"p4\">Cape Vincent Food Pantry<\/li>\n<li class=\"p4\">Carthage Central School Backpack Program<\/li>\n<li class=\"p4\">General Brown Backpack Program<\/li>\n<li class=\"p4\">Redwood Food Pantry<\/li>\n<li class=\"p4\">Rohde Center, Adams<\/li>\n<li class=\"p4\">Sackets Harbor Central School Backpack Program<\/li>\n<li class=\"p4\">Salvation Army of Watertown<\/li>\n<li class=\"p4\">South Jeff Backpack Program<\/li>\n<li class=\"p4\">VEM Food Pantry, Carthage<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"p4\"><b>Lewis County<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"p4\">Beaver River Central School Backpack Program<\/li>\n<li class=\"p4\">Copenhagen Food Pantry<\/li>\n<li class=\"p4\">Croghan Food Pantry<\/li>\n<li class=\"p4\">Harrisville Food Pantry<\/li>\n<li class=\"p4\">Lowville Food Pantry<\/li>\n<li class=\"p4\">New Bremen Food Pantry<\/li>\n<li class=\"p4\">Port Leyden Food Pantry<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"p4\"><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>\u201cWe are grateful to the Jefferson-Lewis Board of Realtors and its members for creating a unique and targeted challenge to help several communities,\u201d said Max DelSignore, Community Foundation assistant director. \u201cThis effort augments the vital work being done by these pantries and schools. It is another clear demonstration of community philanthropy serving as a meaningful force in a time of great need.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p4\"><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span>The Northern New York Community Foundation continues to evaluate and rapidly support essential needs and services through its COVID-19 Community Support Fund.
