The public gatherings will be held on Tuesday, October 4 at Belleville Henderson Central School, and Thursday, October 6 at South Jefferson Central School. Each session will start at 6:30 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>The Six Town Community Fund is designed specifically to advance projects, programs and initiatives in the towns and surrounding communities of Adams, Ellisburg, Henderson, Lorraine, Rodman and Worth. It is a component fund of the Northern New York Community Foundation. \u201cThanks to contributions from individuals, families, and business organizations\u2014along with a matching grant from the Northern New York Community Foundation\u2014we now have a permanent fund that pools our resources and allows us to accomplish more for the community together than we could individually,\u201d said committee chair David J. Zembiec.<\/p>\n<p>Last year, $5,000 in total grant awards from the Six Town Community Fund supported seven community projects across the region. Grant recipients were:<br \/>\n<!--more--><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b><strong>South Jefferson Central School &#8211; $1,300<\/strong><\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Provide support for training at the district\u2019s adventure education course<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b><strong>Rohde Center &#8211; $1,000<\/strong><\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Assist with costs for 2016 community walk\/run to build organizational support<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b><strong>Adams Revitalization Committee &#8211; $600<\/strong><\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Support for the organization\u2019s 2016 Adams Community Concert Series<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b><strong>South Jefferson Rescue Squad, Inc. &#8211; $600<\/strong><\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Funding for the organization\u2019s recent capital project<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b><strong>Henderson Free Library &#8211; $500<\/strong><\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Supply initial funding to develop outdoor reading area\/classroom<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b><strong>Town of Lorraine &#8211; $500<\/strong><\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Restoration of signage recognizing community\u2019s military members<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b><strong>Harbor View Housing Development Fund Company, Inc. &#8211; $500<\/strong><\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Equipment purchase to enhance programming offered to elderly residents<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Non-profit organization representatives and area residents are encouraged to attend the community sessions to learn more about the Six Town Community Fund. Past community fund grant recipients and applicants are encouraged to pursue this funding opportunity again this year. Grant guidelines will be made available in early October.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Zembiec noted that the Six Town Community Fund continues to seek contributions. \u201cThe more we grow the fund, the more grant funding we can award each year&#8221;, he added. \u201cIt\u2019s the gift that keeps on giving.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Six Town Community Fund is administered by the Community Foundation.
