{"id":5318,"date":"2023-02-01T15:57:55","date_gmt":"2023-02-01T15:57:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nnycf.org\/new\/?p=5318"},"modified":"2023-02-01T15:59:37","modified_gmt":"2023-02-01T15:59:37","slug":"six-town-grants","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nnycf.org\/new\/six-town-grants\/","title":{"rendered":"Six Town Fund Supports Five Community Projects"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3 class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\"><i>Funding Will Help Local Organizations with Quality-of-Life Initiatives, Projects<\/i><\/span><\/h3>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span><b>ADAMS \u2014<\/b><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>The Six Town Community Fund of the Northern New York Community Foundation recently awarded $7,500 in grant support to help five south Jefferson County organizations with projects and initiatives that improve the quality of life.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span>The following grants were awarded:<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"p2\"><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span><b>Adams Revitalization Committee:<\/b><span class=\"s5\"> $3,250 will support a community park project in the Village of Adams. Funding will help the project committee meet a matching commitment required by a recent<br \/>\nNew York State grant for the park project.<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"p2\"><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span><b>Belleville Volunteer Fire Department:<\/b> $2,000 to will help equip a new rescue truck that is planned for purchase this year with extinguishers, thigh straps, tools, and more.<\/li>\n<li class=\"p2\"><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span><b>Henderson Harbor Water Sports Program:<\/b> $1,000 to support a water safety and water-based STEM education program at the organization\u2019s lakefront venue for an enriched learning experience.<\/li>\n<li class=\"p2\"><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span><b>Kripalu Yoga and Wellness Center:<\/b> $750 grant to improve outdoor seating in public spaces at the center\u2019s site in Adams Center and help advance their visibility and community engagement.<\/li>\n<li class=\"p2\"><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span><b>South Jefferson Central School District:<\/b> $500 to support a joint family literacy initiative between the district\u2019s two elementary schools \u2014 Mannsville Elementary and Wilson Elementary in Adams Center. Grant funding will help purchase books, activity supplies and community event supplies.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3199\" src=\"https:\/\/nnycf.org\/new\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/Six_Town_logo.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"2249\" height=\"2255\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span>\u201cWe are pleased to support our area with these important grants that focus on health, safety, and wellness <span class=\"s5\">for all of our residents and visitors,\u201d said Barb Greene, Six Town Community Fund committee chair. <\/span>\u201cWe were fortunate to have many applications for funding and appreciate all that our donors have done to build an endowment to continually support our six towns.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span>Grant awards are made possible thanks to many generous donors who continue to support the Six Town Community Fund and its efforts to strengthen southern Jefferson County\u2019s \u201cSix Town\u201d region.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span>The Six Town Community Fund was established in 2013 through the generosity of many donors, matched by the Community Foundation, as a permanent, charitable resource to support organizations that serve southern Jefferson County. The community fund has awarded nearly $40,000 in grants to assist with 40 different community projects and programs. These have included community improvement projects, youth programs, arts and cultural events, equipment purchases, and facility upgrades. Projects are evaluated based on their overall community benefit, effective use of grant money, and the ability of the applicant to successfully implement the project.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span>The community fund is focused on enhancing the quality of life in the towns of Adams, Ellisburg, Henderson, Lorraine, Rodman, and Worth. The next grant application period will be made available this summer with proposals due <b>Friday, Oct. 20<\/b>.
