{"id":5502,"date":"2023-04-05T14:40:53","date_gmt":"2023-04-05T14:40:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nnycf.org\/new\/?p=5502"},"modified":"2023-04-05T14:40:53","modified_gmt":"2023-04-05T14:40:53","slug":"jeffco-npo-covid-recovery","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nnycf.org\/new\/jeffco-npo-covid-recovery\/","title":{"rendered":"Jefferson County Nonprofits Encouraged to Apply for Nonprofit COVID Recovery Program Support"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3 class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\"><i>Applications for funding consideration due Friday, May 5<\/i><\/span><\/h3>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span><b>WATERTOWN \u2014<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/b> Jefferson County-based nonprofit organizations that directly serve county residents are invited to apply by Friday, May 5, for funding support from the Nonprofit COVID Recovery Program.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span>The program is made possible through $1 million in funding that county officials have allocated from the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) to help nonprofits recover and respond to the negative impacts resulting from the coronavirus pandemic.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span>Jefferson County has partnered with the Northern New York Community Foundation to administer the federal grant program and steward ARPA State and Local Recovery Funds in accordance with guidelines the United States Treasury has established.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span>\u201cWe are grateful for the ability to partner to deploy these resources with the various stewardship measures and grantmaking standards we regularly utilize,\u201d said Rande S. We very much appreciate the Foundation\u2019s expertise and assistance in making sure these valuable federal funds are distributed in an expeditious manner to those nonprofit organizations that were so negatively impacted over the past few years by COVID 19,\u201d said Robert Robert F. Hagemann III, County Administrator.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span>To assist the greatest number of Jefferson County nonprofit organizations impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, in many cases, partial funding may be awarded.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span>The Nonprofit COVID Recovery Program is a competitive grant program available to Jefferson County nonprofit organizations that meet the following criteria:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s2\"><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span><\/span>Located in Jefferson County and classified by the federal government and New York State as an active, 501(c)(3) nonprofit.<\/li>\n<li class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s2\"><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span><\/span>Are requesting funds which will benefit Jefferson County residents.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s2\"><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span><\/span>Are requesting funds to support programs or projects that address pandemic response needs and\/or alleviate documented financial hardships for the organization caused by the pandemic.<\/li>\n<li class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s2\"><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span><\/span><span class=\"s4\">As funds are limited and the process is competitive, to best ensure equitable distribution of funds, organizations that have not received prior funding from Jefferson County or other governmental entities <\/span>will receive priority consideration.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span>Documented expenses for programs and projects that were impacted by the pandemic and underway between March 2021 and present day are eligible for funding consideration. Funding will not be awarded for general operating expenses.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span>In the interest of benefitting the greatest scope of community needs, grant awards supporting capital items should not exceed 50 percent of the total cost related to the specific request being made. Organizations may only submit one application at a time.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span><span class=\"s4\">Grant applications must be completed through the Community Foundation\u2019s online Grant Lifecycle Manager portal, which may be accessed at <a href=\"http:\/\/bit.ly\/grant-portal\"><b>bit.ly\/grant-portal<\/b><\/a>. The application process is similar to the Community Foundation\u2019s general grant program. If funding remains after the first allocation of grants, <\/span>additional application opportunities will be made available.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span>Organizations receiving support from the Nonprofit COVID Recovery Program are required to sign a grant agreement upon notification of the award before funds are disbursed.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span>Based on expectations outlined by ARPA and Jefferson County, grantees are also required to complete periodic follow-up reports detailing how the grant money is being expended. When grant funding has been fully spent by an organization, a complete grant report is required within 30 days.
