Up to $7,500 Available for Nonprofits Serving Southern Jefferson County Residents<\/i><\/span><\/h3>\n

\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span>ADAMS \u2014 <\/b>The Six Town Community Fund of the Northern New York Community Foundation will award up to $7,500 in grant funding this year to nonprofit organizations serving residents of the southern Jefferson County area.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span>This geographic fund provides support for local programs, projects, and initiatives that enhance the quality of life in the Six Town area. All organizations applying for funding must do so by Friday, Oct. 20, 2023<\/b>, through the Foundation\u2019s online Grant Lifecycle Manager, which may be accessed at bit.ly\/grant-portal<\/b><\/a>. Nonprofit organizations with a 501(c)(3) classification are eligible and invited to apply. Funding decisions will be determined in December and announced shortly thereafter.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span>Eligible organizations must actively serve residents in the towns of Adams, Ellisburg, Henderson, Lorraine, Rodman, and Worth. Requests may focus on assisting with local needs related to health and wellness, families and youth, arts and culture, history, education and more.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span>Last year, the Six Town Community Fund provided $3,250 in grant funding to the Adams Revitalization Committee to support a community park project in the village; $2,000 to the Belleville Volunteer Fire Department to help equip a new rescue truck; a $1,000 grant to Henderson Harbor Water Sports Program to support a water safety and water-based STEM education program; $750 to Kripalu Yoga and Wellness Center in Adams Center to improve outdoor seating in public spaces at its property; and $500 to the South Jefferson Central School District to support a joint family literacy initiative between the district\u2019s two elementary schools in Mannsville and Adams Center.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span>The Six Town Community Fund was established in 2013 through the generosity of many donors as a permanent, charitable resource to support nonprofits serving southern Jefferson County. Since the fund<\/span> began awarding grants in 2015, it has provided nearly $40,000 in support to assist with 39 different community service projects and programs. These have included community improvement projects, youth programs, new events, equipment purchases, and facility upgrades. Projects are evaluated based on their overall community benefit, effective use of grant money, and the ability of the applicant to successfully implement the project.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span>Six Town Community Fund Chair Barb Greene encouraged all eligible organizations to consider applying for funding support for efforts that strengthen the quality of life across the Six Town area.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span>\u201cWe are proud to make this vital community resource available to the many nonprofit organizations serving residents of our area,\u201d Mrs. Greene said. \u201cOur review committee looks forward to evaluating proposals that help improve the quality of life in the Six Town region.\u201d<\/p>\n
