{"id":6371,"date":"2023-12-01T17:16:56","date_gmt":"2023-12-01T17:16:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nnycf.org\/?p=6090"},"modified":"2023-12-01T17:16:56","modified_gmt":"2023-12-01T17:16:56","slug":"brick-riverside-grant","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nnycf.org\/new\/brick-riverside-grant\/","title":{"rendered":"Cary and Janet Brick Riverside Foundation Grant Supports River Hospital"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3 class=\\\"p3\\\"><span class=\\\"s2\\\"><i>Emergency Department Award Honors Retiring Clayton Mayor<\/i><\/span><\/h3>\n<p class=\\\"p4\\\"><span class=\\\"Apple-converted-space\\\">\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span><b>CLAYTON \u2014<\/b> The <b>Cary and Janet Brick Riverside Foundation<\/b>, a Northern New York Community Foundation affiliate, has provided a grant to River Hospital in honor of retiring Clayton Mayor Norma Zimmer.<\/p>\n<p class=\\\"p4\\\"><span class=\\\"Apple-converted-space\\\">\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span>A $1,500 grant was recently awarded to support the hospital\u2019s Emergency Department, which \u201ccontinues to enhance the quality of life for the Thousand Islands year-round residents and summer visitors with first-rate care in their own back yard.\u201d<!--more--><\/p>\n<p class=\\\"p4\\\"><span class=\\\"Apple-converted-space\\\">\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span>\u201cOur Foundation is dedicated to supporting institutions and programs to enhance the quality of life in the Thousand Islands. Because River Hospital continues to share our values, we are pleased to offer this \u2018thank you\u2019 grant,\u201d Mr. and Mrs. Brick said in making the award. \u201cRiver Hospital\u2019s medical professionals excel in treating patients with dignity and compassion, as well as comfort when it is needed the most.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\\\"p4\\\"><span class=\\\"Apple-converted-space\\\">\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span>The Bricks awarded the grant honor of longtime village Mayor Norma Zimmer, who after 16 years in office announced plans to retire from elective service while dedicating her time to helping the village as an active volunteer in the community.<\/p>\n<img class=\\\"wp-image-2359 size-large\\\" src=\\\"https:\/\/nnycf.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/NNYCF_Cary_Janet_Brick_121119-1024x844.jpg\\\" alt=\\\"\\\" width=\\\"1024\\\" height=\\\"844\\\" \/>\n<p class=\\\"p4\\\"><span class=\\\"Apple-converted-space\\\">\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span>\u201cIt is our privilege to honor her through this opportunity to support River Hospital,\u201d Mr. and Mrs. Brick said. \u201cNorma has dedicated her remarkable energies to public service. Her long-range vision for Clayton has made the village a nationally recognized community of excellence. She has led with enviable fervor in everything she has done without asking for the public adoration she so richly deserves.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\\\"p4\\\"><span class=\\\"Apple-converted-space\\\">\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span>The Bricks said Clayton is a far better place thanks to Mayor Zimmer\u2019s service.<\/p>\n<p class=\\\"p4\\\"><span class=\\\"Apple-converted-space\\\">\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span>\u201cNorma Zimmer\u2019s Clayton represents a spirit of \u2018Yes, We Can!\u2019 when it comes to rising to any occasion,\u201d Mr. and Mrs. Brick said. \u201cNorma\u2019s career of positive actions and influence will yield benefits for Clayton and the Thousand Islands region for decades to come. She is a treasure.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\\\"p4\\\"><span class=\\\"Apple-converted-space\\\">\u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span>Established in 2017, the Brick Riverside Foundation is a geographic-specific charitable fund that provides support for St. Lawrence River-area programs and institutions to enhance the quality of life in the Thousand Islands region. It is designed to have broad impact in perpetuity.<\/p>\n<p class=\\\"p4\\\"><span class=\\\"Apple-converted-space\\\">\u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span>The Brick Riverside Foundation gift to support the hospital is the latest from a Northern New York Community Foundation-affiliated fund.<\/p>\n<p class=\\\"p4\\\"><span class=\\\"s1\\\"><span class=\\\"Apple-converted-space\\\">\u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span>The Bricks are active supporters of Clayton and the River community. Mr. Brick served as a fire <\/span>commissioner and Mrs. Brick was Clayton Town and Village justice. In 2021, the Brick Riverside Foundation awarded a grant to help the Clayton celebrate its 150th anniversary. The component fund is a great example of a Community Foundation affiliate continuing a more than 94-year record of helping Northern New York strengthen the quality of life for generations to come.<\/p>\n<p class=\\\"p6\\\"><span class=\\\"s1\\\"><b>About the Northern New York Community Foundation<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\\\"p4\\\"><span class=\\\"s1\\\"><span class=\\\"Apple-converted-space\\\">\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span>Since 1929, the Northern New York Community Foundation has invested in improving and enriching the quality of life for all in communities across Jefferson, Lewis, and St. Lawrence counties.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\\\"p4\\\"><span class=\\\"s1\\\"><span class=\\\"Apple-converted-space\\\">\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span>Through partnerships with businesses and organizations, charitable foundations, and generous families and individual donors, the Community Foundation awards grants and scholarships from an endowment and collection of funds that benefit the region.
