Applications for Funding Support are Due by Friday, April 24<\/i><\/span><\/h3>\n

\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span>WATERTOWN \u2014<\/b> A new Community Fund Grant Program<\/b> at the Northern New York Community Foundation is now accepting applications from local nonprofits that make an impact in specific communities.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span>A variety of donors have helped establish charitable funds at the Community Foundation to benefit local villages, towns, and communities. The Foundation is the responsible steward of these community funds. This year, the Foundation is pooling these place-based funds into one grant application to magnify their impact across Northern New York.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span>The Foundation encourages tri-county nonprofits to submit a proposal that is a top priority and enhances the quality of life in their respective communities. The application must include a clear description of the request, summary of community impact, and attainable project outcomes.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span>Eligible organizations will select the community that will be impacted by their efforts in the grant application, <\/span>which is available online at bit.ly\/grant-portal<\/b><\/a>.<\/p>\n

Three community funds featured<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span>The George R. Davis Fund for Lowville<\/b> will consider proposals through this program benefiting the quality of life in the Village and Town of Lowville. Mr. Davis was actively involved in this community and served for 20 years as the Lewis County Judge. He created a legacy fund to support Lowville upon his passing in 2010. Up to $20,000 is available to award from this fund.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span>The Six Town Community Fund<\/b> is included in this round of the Community Fund Grant Program. This fund supports priority projects and programs in the towns of Adams, Ellisburg, Henderson, Lorraine, Rodman, and Worth. Up to $13,000 in total funding is available to award this grant cycle.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span>Nonprofit organizations that received a Six Town Community Fund grant in December are not eligible to apply for new funding in this round. Please contact the Foundation with any questions.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span>The Clifton-Fine Community Fund<\/b> is also included in this grant program. This geographic fund supports projects benefiting residents of Clifton, Cranberry Lake, Fine, Newton Falls, Oswegatchie, Star Lake, and Wanakena. In this round, up to $7,000 is available for nonprofits to pursue. If you have an open grant through this community fund, please contact the Foundation to determine your eligibility for a new submission.<\/p>\n

Program to support other communities<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span>Five additional territories are included as part of the Community Fund Grant Program. Those communities are: Antwerp<\/b>, Cape Vincent<\/b>, Clayton<\/b>, Gouverneur<\/b>, and the City of Watertown<\/b>. Nonprofits with projects or efforts supporting these areas are encouraged to apply.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span>\u201cOver many years, donors have made the thoughtful decision to designate their charitable gifts to the communities they love through the Community Foundation,\u201d said Max DelSignore<\/b>, Community Foundation vice president. \u201cThrough our active community funds in the Six Town and Clifton-Fine regions, as well as legacy funds created by generous donors, we want to celebrate the strength of geographic giving and highlight this opportunity for our region\u2019s nonprofits.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span>The deadline to apply is Friday, April 24<\/b>, with grant award decisions made in June. Grant agreements and reports are required with each approved award.
