The Northern New York Community Foundation has awarded a $10,000 matching grant to establish and build a permanent endowment fund for the St. Lawrence County Historical Association (SLCHA) at the Community Foundation.<\/p>\n
The Community Foundation will match contributions to the SLCHA\u2019s endowment fund, dollar-for-dollar, up to $10,000. The goal is to help build the SLCHA\u2019s endowment and provide a permanent, self-sustaining source of long-term funding in support of its work and mission. The SLCHA recently entered into a formal partnership with the Community Foundation, joining 35 other St. Lawrence County organizations who have established funds within the Community Foundation. The partnership also provides expanded options for donors interested in a greater variety of planned giving options, diversification and stewardship.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe St. Lawrence County Historical Association is immensely excited and pleased to partner with the Northern New York Community Foundation. This opportunity for people to exercise their long range giving goals to the SLCHA through the Community Foundation is outstanding. \u201cThe Community Foundation feels strongly that it is important to address both short-term and long-term needs. Ensuring that there is support in the future for investments made today is critical. We are very excited about the new partnership with the St. Lawrence County Historical Association as we explore more ways we can collaborate,\u201d said Rande S. Richardson, director of the Community Foundation.<\/p>\n
The St. Lawrence County Historical Association, located in the Silas Wright House in Canton, is a not-for-profit organization and museum which serves as an educational resource for the use and benefit of the citizens of St.\u00a0Lawrence County and others interested in the county\u2019s history and traditions. They collect and preserve archival material and artifacts pertinent to the county\u2019s history. In cooperation and collaboration with other local organizations, they promote an understanding of and appreciation for the County’s rich history through publications, exhibits, and programs.<\/p>\n
The Northern New York Community Foundation makes grants to support the work of non-profit organizations and provides scholarships to individuals in Jefferson, Lewis and St. Lawrence counties. Since 1929, the Foundation has been built and added to from gifts (both while living and through their legacy plans) by individuals and organizations committed to meeting the changing needs of Northern New York, as well as supporting specific charitable interests and passions.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
