Air Products Greater Massena Community Fund Announces Inaugural Grant Recipients

October 22, 2024 By admin

Five Organizations Will Share $32,500 for Work in Greater Massena Community

MASSENA — Air Products, in collaboration with the Northern New York Community Foundation, is pleased to announce the recipients of the inaugural Air Products Greater Massena Community Fund grant awards. The fund, which was established in May through a $50,000 grant from the Air Products Foundation to the Northern New York Community Foundation, awarded a total of $32,500 to five organizations that are making a positive impact on the Greater Massena community.

Grant recipients include: The Holistic Life Foundation; The Salvation Army of Massena; The Massena Arts and Theater Association; The Police Activities League of Massena; and Massena Memorial Hospital.

The Air Products Greater Massena Community Fund supports organizations and municipalities in implementing programs, projects, and initiatives designed to improve the quality of life for residents in the Greater Massena community and St. Regis Mohawk Reservation. This year’s grants will support projects in the areas of education, health and wellness, arts and culture, and human services.

“We are proud to support organizations that are making a difference in the Greater Massena community,” said Trip Oliver, Air Products’ Director of Government and Community Relations. “Our goal in investing in these programs is to create a more vibrant and prosperous community for everyone.”

The following organizations will use the designated grants from the Air Products Greater Massena Community Fund in support of their missions for purposes including:

  • The Holistic Life Foundation: $7,500 to support the Mindful Moment Program at Massena Central School District. This program serves as a calming space for students to promote mental health, emotional regulation, and resilience to practice emotional regulation and reduce behavioral issues.
  • The Salvation Army of Massena: $7,500 to complete the construction of a commercial-grade kitchen, which will allow the organization to provide three hot meals a week for residents facing food insecurity in St. Lawrence County.
  • Police Activities League of Massena: $7,500 to enhance the safety and security of their facility with the installation of security windows and an ADA-compliant door opener.
  • Massena Arts and Theater Association: $5,000 to support the restoration of the historic Schine Theater, including marquee restoration and façade stabilization.
  • Massena Memorial Hospital: $5,000 to support renovation of the emergency department including upgrading the behavioral health room, refreshing staff areas with new furniture, refreshing patient exam treatment rooms, creating a private family consultation area, and improving security measures.

“These grants are a testament to the incredible work being done by organizations in the Greater Massena area,” said Rande Richardson, Northern New York Community Foundation executive director. “By providing them with the resources they need, we’re helping to ensure that our communities continue to thrive. We’re grateful to Air Products for their generous support and their commitment to making a positive impact.”

The Northern New York Community Foundation will continue to accept grant applications on a rolling basis through November 30, 2024, or until all remaining funds have been allocated. All qualifying 501(c)(3) organizations and municipalities in St. Lawrence or Franklin Counties that serve the Massena community and Akwesasne Nation are encouraged to apply through the Community Foundation’s grant portal at bit.ly/grant-portal.
