Foundation will Match all Gifts up to $10,000 to the TAUNY Endowment Fund

     CANTON — The Northern New York Community Foundation recently awarded a $10,000 matching grant to Traditional Arts in Update New York (TAUNY) to help build charitable support for its endowment fund at the Foundation.

     The Community Foundation will match, dollar-for-dollar, all gifts made to the TAUNY endowment fund up to $10,000. Four School Districts Earn a Share of $5,000 in Grant Funding for Increasing Student Participation in Scholarship Program

    WATERTOWN — Four school districts across Jefferson, Lewis, and St. Lawrence counties were recently named winners of the Community Foundation’s Class of 2025 Scholarship Challenge and earned a share of $5,000 in grant funding.

     Three school districts — one in each county the Community Foundation serves — each received a $1,000 grant and a fourth was awarded the top Scholarship Challenge grant of $2,000.

     Lewis County’s South Lewis Central School District is the top grant winner with 32 percent, or 15, of its 47 seniors submitting scholarship applications. [Read more…]

More than 6,000 Food and Hygiene Items Collected will Help Reduce Food Insecurity

     WATERTOWN — The Northern New York Community Foundation’s LEAD Council is pleased to announce the winners of its third “Canstruction for Northern New York” contest to help reduce food insecurity across the region.

     Nine teams combined to collect more than 6,000 canned goods and other nonperishable food items or hygiene products that will help restock school-based backpack programs and community food pantries in Jefferson, Lewis, and St. Lawrence counties. Additionally, the winning teams will share $1,500 in grant awards to present to two different school-based backpack programs that participants selected.

More than $52,000 in Grant Funding Will Strengthen Quality of Life for Residents Across the County

     WATERTOWN — Eleven St. Lawrence County nonprofit organizations will share $52,287 in grant funding from the Dr. D. Susan Badenhausen Legacy Fund of the Northern New York Community Foundation to strengthen the quality of life for all residents across the county.

     The Dr. D. Susan Badenhausen Legacy Fund was established through a bequest from Dr. Badenhausen, a St. Lawrence County resident and retired physician who passed away in 2018 at age 83. Dr. Badenhausen believed in the strength of community and was a passionate advocate for the people and places in the region she loved and called home. This charitable fund forever continues her legacy of caring for others while thoughtfully perpetuating her interests and passions in responsible ways with a geographic-specific focus on improving the quality of life in St. Lawrence County.
