Up to $100,000 Available for Projects Focused on Places of Historical Significance

     LEWIS COUNTY — The Northern New York Community Foundation is pleased to announce a funding opportunity of up to $100,000 to celebrate the rich historical heritage of Lewis County through support for historic preservation and restoration projects.

     Historic preservation holds significant value by preserving history, fostering community identity, and offering economic and environmental benefits, contributing to the quality of life in our region. It helps residents understand our past, connect with our heritage, and create a stronger sense of place while adding character to the landscape of our communities.

Rock Charitable Fund Sets Series of Grant Workshops in St. Lawrence County

Applications for 2025 Grant Support Now Open to Qualified Organizations Serving St. Lawrence County Residents

     WATERTOWN — The Rock Charitable Fund of the Northern New York Community Foundation welcomes representatives from qualified charitable organizations, houses of worship, cemeteries, or governmental entities that serve St. Lawrence County residents to attend one of four grant application workshops scheduled next month.

     The Rock Charitable Fund is now accepting applications for 2025 grant support. At least $125,000 in competitive funding is available this year. Applications are due Friday, September 5, 2025.

Community Foundation Grant Improves Accessibility at Ogdensburg Public Library

$30,000 in Support Helps Replace Aging Handicap Lift; Project Now Underway

     OGDENSBURG — A $30,000 Community Foundation grant is helping Ogdensburg Public Library improve accessibility for all patrons as work to replace an aging handicapped lift nears completion.

     Library officials have been eager to construct a safe, modern entryway for all patrons, regardless of mobility. Installation of an interior lift and structure to protect it has been underway since March.

New Charitable Funds Support Cape Vincent Arts Council’s Future, Continuation of Community Art and Music Programs

Community Foundation Will Match Gifts to the CVAC Endowment Fund up to $30,000

     CAPE VINCENT — For more than 25 years, the Cape Vincent Arts Council (CVAC) has been providing opportunities for Cape Vincent residents and visitors to enjoy and participate in the arts. With the establishment of two new funds, the CVAC will be able to continue benefiting the community in that way well into the future.

     The Dr. William James Grant Fund and the Cape Vincent Arts Council Endowment Fund were established at the Northern New York Community Foundation (NNYCF) in December 2024. Both funds enable the Cape Vincent Arts Council to support its annual arts programs and to plan for its future.

Community Foundation, TAUNY Partner to Strengthen the Arts in St. Lawrence County

Foundation will Match all Gifts up to $10,000 to the TAUNY Endowment Fund

     CANTON — The Northern New York Community Foundation recently awarded a $10,000 matching grant to Traditional Arts in Update New York (TAUNY) to help build charitable support for its endowment fund at the Foundation.

     The Community Foundation will match, dollar-for-dollar, all gifts made to the TAUNY endowment fund up to $10,000. To join in this effort and support the arts in St. Lawrence County and beyond, visit bit.ly/TAUNY-match for secure online giving. Gifts may also be made to the Northern New York Community Foundation, 131 Washington St., Watertown, NY 13601 with TAUNY endowment noted in the memo line.

The Youth Philanthropy Council of the Northern New York Community Foundation is pleased to announce $25,000 in grant funding for six tri-county nonprofit organizations that will support a diverse range of community programs and initiatives.

Council Chair April Wang, a second-year member and 2026 Watertown High School graduate, said the Council had many worthy requests for grant funding this year.

“Guided by a commitment to thoughtful stewardship and community impact, the Youth Philanthropy Council has carefully selected grant recipients whose work addresses critical needs and fosters meaningful progress,” Ms. Wang said. “I am beyond proud of the diligence and purpose reflected in the Council’s work this year.”

We are pleased to invite the public to experience an evening of inspiring music at the annual Sidney T. Cox Memorial Concert on Friday, July 10, at 7:30 p.m. at the Clayton Opera House, featuring The Syracuse Orchestra.

Presented with support from the Community Foundation in partnership with the Thousand Islands Performing Arts Fund (TIPAF), the annual concert honors the enduring legacy of Sidney T. Cox.

This year’s performance blends beloved classical masterworks with familiar favorites from Broadway and the silver screen. Audiences will enjoy selections from Wicked, The Sound of Music, Jurassic Park, Beauty and the Beast, Kiki’s Delivery Service, and Wicked, alongside works by Aaron Copland, Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov, Duke Ellington and others.

Together with the Italian-American Civic Association and Immaculate Heart Central School, we are pleased to announce the 2026 recipients of the Clarence B. “Boots” Gaffney Award.

Julianna L. Delaney was selected as the women’s recipient and Jameson M. Lettiere was named as this year’s men’s honoree.
