Dr. D. Susan Badenhausen Legacy Fund Offers $50,000 in Grant Support

St. Lawrence County Charitable Organizations Invited to Apply for Funding by October 22     

     WATERTOWN — The Dr. D. Susan Badenhausen Legacy Fund of the Northern New York Community Foundation is now accepting applications for 2021 grant funding from qualified charitable organizations that strive to improve the quality of life in St. Lawrence County.

     Grant funding is available to nonprofit organizations serving St. Lawrence County whose missions and efforts align with one or more of the following focus areas: general health and well-being; educational programs; conservation and wildlife preservation; and arts and culture.

     The fund benefits causes and organizations that Dr. Badenhausen valued and treasured most and serves as an enduring embodiment of her passions and interests while providing annual grants to organizations that support the same.

Deadline Near for Clifton-Fine Community Fund Grant Proposals

Applications for up to $6,000 in Available Funding Due Next Friday, Aug. 27

    FINE — Nonprofit organizations serving St. Lawrence County’s Clifton-Fine region should apply by next Friday for 2021 grant funding from the Clifton-Fine Community Fund of the Northern New York Community Foundation.

    The fund supports projects, activities, and initiatives that enhance the quality of life for residents of Cranberry Lake, Fine, Oswegatchie, Star Lake, Newton Falls and Wanakena. Successful projects or programs should advance community initiatives that will have yearlong, meaningful impact across the region.

Kenneth V. and Jeannette Remp Sawyer Community Fund Announces $46,500 in Grant Awards

Eleven Organizations and Projects Will Share Support for Community Initiatives

     BOONVILLE — Eleven organizations and projects that benefit Boonville, Constableville, and Westernville residents will share $46,500 in 2021 funding from the Kenneth V. and Jeannette Remp Sawyer Community Fund of the Northern New York Community Foundation.

     Support will help fund programs and projects that broadly impact the quality of life for residents in the three communities. More than a dozen organizations applied for funding in the fourth year this opportunity has been made available. In 2020, the Sawyer Community Fund awarded $40,000 to 11 community-based organizations. Thanks to the enduring generosity of the Sawyers, the fund has provided $149,000 in support to 45 organizations and projects since it began grant-making efforts in 2018.

George R. Davis Fund for Lowville Awards $15,000 to Support Community

Approved Funding to Help With Projects at Six Organizations

     LOWVILLE — The George R. Davis Fund of the Northern New York Community Foundation recently awarded $15,000 in grants to support six Lowville-area projects and organizations. This geographic-specific fund serves as a permanent resource for programs, projects, and initiatives that enhance quality of life in the village and town of Lowville.

     A three-person committee reviews grant applications for the George R. Davis Fund for Lowville each year. The committee evaluates each proposal on its merits using the “greatest positive impact on the community” as guiding criteria in making an award. Projects may be large or small. A total of $15,000 was available for funding in 2021.

Clifton-Fine Community Fund Welcomes Proposals for 2021 Grant Support

We are pleased to announce the Community Foundation’s new “Grants for Good” program for tri-county organizations seeking funding support.

The Foundation is introducing “Grants for Good” in each county to encourage nonprofits to submit a funding request that directly impacts their mission and quality of life for residents in each region. The program application and format mirrors the Foundation’s previous “General Grant Program.”

Nonprofit organizations serving residents of Jefferson, Lewis, and St. Lawrence counties are encouraged to apply by Friday, Feb. 20, 2026, for first quarter funding consideration.
