Pair of Seniors Honored as Top Graduating Athletes at IHC Spring Awards Event

     WATERTOWN — Two members of the Immaculate Heart Central Class of 2025 are the top graduating athletes and recipients of the Clarence B. “Boots” Gaffney Award. Abigail D. Bombard was selected as the women’s recipient and Samuel E. Charlebois was named as this year’s men’s honoree.

     The Italian-American Civic Association established the Gaffney Award in 1980 following his retirement as athletic director to honor his commitment to Immaculate Heart Academy and IHC students. That same year, the award was first presented to the top graduating male and female athletes at Immaculate Heart.

Pair of Seniors Honored as Top Graduating Athletes at Watertown High School Spring Awards Event

     WATERTOWN — A pair of Watertown High School seniors were honored Wednesday evening as the top graduating athletes and recipients of the William I. Graf Award. Samantha G. Booth was selected as the women’s recipients and Jack Adams was named as the men’s honoree this year.

     The Italian-American Civic Association created the William I. Graf Award in 1954 to honor Mr. Graf’s leadership and civic engagement in the community. The Northern New York Community Foundation was selected to help continue the Graf family legacy by administering an associated scholarship fund in perpetuity and raising awareness of the award for students who strive to earn the prestigious honor.

Applications for 2025 Grant Support Now Open to Qualified Organizations Serving St. Lawrence County Residents

     WATERTOWN — The Rock Charitable Fund of the Northern New York Community Foundation welcomes representatives from qualified charitable organizations, houses of worship, cemeteries, or governmental entities that serve St. Lawrence County residents to attend one of four grant application workshops scheduled next month.

     The Rock Charitable Fund is now accepting applications for 2025 grant support. At least $125,000 in competitive funding is available this year. Applications are due Friday, September 5, 2025.

$30,000 in Support Helps Replace Aging Handicap Lift; Project Now Underway

     OGDENSBURG — A $30,000 Community Foundation grant is helping Ogdensburg Public Library improve accessibility for all patrons as work to replace an aging handicapped lift nears completion.

     Library officials have been eager to construct a safe, modern entryway for all patrons, regardless of mobility. Installation of an interior lift and structure to protect it has been underway since March.
