Boldt Great-Grandson Thanks Donors, Recognizes Three Jefferson County High School Seniors

    ALEXANDRIA BAY — Three Jefferson County high school seniors were recently named recipients of the inaugural Northern New York Community Foundation George C. Boldt Scholarship.

    Alexandria Central High School students Matthew Ford and Dylan O’Connor, and Watertown High School student Abrianna Parson, were each awarded $5,000 scholarships in a ceremony at Boldt Castle on Heart Island, Alexandria Bay. The scholarship honors the legacy of the castle’s builder, noted hotelier and philanthropist George C. Boldt.

Lead Donor Establishes Charitable Fund to Help Replace Musical Instruments

    PARISHVILLE — The Parishville-Hopkinton Central School District recently formed a charitable partnership with the Northern New York Community Foundation to help purchase and upgrade musical instruments for students.

    The Parishville-Hopkinton Central School Musical Instrument Fund was established at the Community Foundation with a generous lead matching gift from Dr. G. Michael and Mrs. Barbara Maresca. Dr. Maresca is president of St. Lawrence Radiology Associates. He and his wife are St. Lawrence County residents who share an affinity for local arts and education.

Pair of Seniors Honored Wednesday as Top Graduating Athletes

    WATERTOWN — Two Watertown High School seniors were recognized as the top graduating athletes and the recipients of the William I. Graf Award on Wednesday. Julia Lavarnway was selected as the women’s recipient, and Ryder Simser was named as the men’s honoree this year.

Funding Available to Support Live Orchestral Music Performances in the Watertown Area and Tree Planting in City of Watertown    

    The deadline to submit grant proposals for funding from two community-specific funds that together award up to $23,000 is this Friday.

    The Community Foundation invites nonprofit organizations or government entities to apply for up to $20,000 in 2019 grant funding to produce live orchestral music performances in the Watertown area.
