Dr. D. Susan Badenhausen Legacy Fund Supports Projects at Five St. Lawrence County Nonprofits

$50,000 in Grant Funding Awarded to Strengthen Quality of Life

     WATERTOWN — The Dr. D. Susan Badenhausen Legacy Fund of the Northern New York Community Foundation has awarded $50,000 to five nonprofit organizations in St. Lawrence County to strengthen the quality of life.

     The Dr. D. Susan Badenhausen Legacy Fund was established through a bequest from Dr. Badenhausen, a St. Lawrence County resident and retired physician who passed away in 2018 at age 83. Dr. Badenhausen believed in the strength of community and was a passionate advocate for the people and places in the region she loved and called home. This charitable fund forever continues her legacy of caring for others while thoughtfully perpetuating her interests and passions in responsible ways with a geographic-specific focus on improving the quality of life in St. Lawrence County.

Community Foundation Announces Second Quarter Funding Opportunities

Nearly $100,000 Available Through Five Different Community Grant Programs

     WATERTOWN — The Northern New York Community Foundation is pleased to announce a series of funding opportunities now open for tri-county nonprofit organizations to apply.

Maxine Quigg Women In Business Fund Supports Entrepreneurs

Applications for 2022 Grant Awards Now Open for Tri-County Women

     WATERTOWN — Applications for grant support from the Maxine Quigg Women in Business Fund of the Northern New York Community Foundation are now being accepted for 2022 awards. 

     Maxine’s sister-in-law, Kimberley Horrill, established the fund at the Community Foundation in July 2021 with a goal to increase local mentorship, volunteerism, civic and community engagement, and investment. Its mission is to perpetuate the life and legacy of Maxine Quigg by supporting and empowering women entrepreneurs in Jefferson, Lewis, and St. Lawrence counties to succeed in their pursuits and realize their full potential.

VanNess Family Fund Supports Three Potsdam Nonprofits

     POTSDAM — More than a decade after they passed, John and Dorotha VanNess continue to strengthen the Potsdam community they generously served in their lifetimes.

     Through a trio of new grant awards that impact the Potsdam area, John and Dorotha’s commitment to the community endures. The John and Dorotha VanNess Family Fund of the Northern New York Community Foundation recently approved $11,000 in support for three nonprofits that deliver arts, culture, and youth-based programs.

Watertown’s Taste of the Town Returns In Person April 23; Sunrise Rotary Club Foundation Seeks Grant Applications

Opportunity for $5,000 in Funding Open to All Tri-County Nonprofit Organizations

     WATERTOWN — Nonprofit organizations that serve residents of Jefferson, Lewis, and St. Lawrence counties are encouraged to apply for the 2022 Watertown Sunrise Rotary Foundation Taste of the Town grant as the one-day community event returns to Jefferson Community College for the first time since 2019. The Watertown Sunrise Rotary Club Foundation is a charitable fund of the Northern New York Community Foundation.

     “We are thrilled to safely bring this event back to an in-person format after the COVID-19 pandemic forced us to cancel it the past two years,” said Kraig Everard, Watertown Sunrise Rotary Club president. “We encourage all eligible North Country nonprofits to apply for grant support. Watertown Sunrise Rotary’s mission is ‘Service Above Self.’ By offering local nonprofit organizations this one-time grant, Sunrise Rotary creates a lasting partnership with them.”
