Clayton Jazz Festival Program Sets Path to Sustainable Future

Community Foundation Grant Helps Create Endowment for ‘Jazz in the Classroom’

    CLAYTON — A program that teaches students about jazz music and enhances their artistic abilities is on a path to continue for years to come thanks to a recent Community Foundation grant.

    Grant support totaling $20,000 to ensure the long-term sustainability of Clayton Jazz Festival’s “Jazz in the Classroom” program was approved earlier this year. The award will help fund the educational initiative over three years and is supported, in part, by the Grace L. Reinman Fund of the Community Foundation. To help establish and build a permanent Jazz in the Classroom Endowment Fund at the foundation, a $5,000 grant was awarded with an additional $5,000 commitment to match gifts.

Community Development Grants Awarded; Additional Funding Available

Application Open for Up to $10,000 Through Jefferson Economic Development Fund

    WATERTOWN — Five organizations were recently awarded grants from the Jefferson Economic Development Fund of the Northern New York Community Foundation, and another round of funding is now available.

    The Jefferson Economic Development Fund encourages nonprofit organizations to think creatively and broadly when examining their services and identify a correlation between their work and economic development in Jefferson County. The fund was created in 2016 through the establishment of a partnership between the Community Foundation and the nonprofit formally known as the Jefferson County Chambers of Commerce.

Deadline for 2020 Six Town Community Fund Support is Oct. 23

Geographic Fund Now Accepting Proposals to Aid Local Initiatives, Projects

    ADAMS — Nonprofit organizations that serve residents of the southern Jefferson County region may now apply for 2020 grant funding from the Six Town Community Fund of the Northern New York Community Foundation.

    The fund supports projects, activities, and initiatives that enhance the quality of life for residents of Adams, Ellisburg, Henderson, Lorraine, Rodman, and Worth. Grant applications must be received or postmarked no later than Friday, Oct. 23, 2020. Nonprofit, 501(c)(3) organizations are eligible and encouraged to apply.

Grants to Aid Food Pantries Following Clayton Event Cancellation

Five Local Agencies Will Benefit From $5,000 in Community Support Fund Awards

    WATERTOWN — The Northern New York Community Foundation will award $5,000 from its COVID-19 Community Support Fund to strengthen inventories at five local food pantries serving St. Lawrence River-area communities. These agencies were expected to receive proceeds from this year’s “Punkin’ Chunkin” event in the Village of Clayton, as they have in past years.

    The Foundation’s COVID-19 Community Support Fund, which was created to provide support for essential needs during the public health pandemic, will allocate five $1,000 grants to food pantries impacted by the cancellation of the annual event in Clayton. The grant recipients are:

Clifton-Fine Community Fund Welcomes Grant Proposals for 2020 Awards

Applications for Up to $6,000 in Available Funding Due Tuesday, Aug. 25

    WATERTOWN — Nonprofit organizations that serve residents of the Clifton-Fine region in St. Lawrence County may now apply for 2020 grant funding from the Clifton-Fine Community Fund of the Northern New York Community Foundation.

    The fund supports projects, activities, and initiatives that enhance the quality of life for residents of Cranberry Lake, Fine, Oswegatchie, Star Lake, Newton Falls and Wanakena. Grant applications must be received or postmarked no later than Tuesday, Aug. 25, 2020. Nonprofit, 501(c)(3) organizations are eligible and encouraged to apply.

    Successful projects or programs should advance community programs, projects and initiatives that will have yearlong, meaningful impact across the region.

The Community Foundation is accepting applications through next Friday, May 29, to serve on its Youth Philanthropy Council. Applications are welcome from students who attend any of the county’s 13 public and private schools, as well as home-schooled students, provided they live in a Jefferson County school district.
