Deadline for Regional Grant Opportunities Fast Approaching; Nonprofits Encouraged to Apply

George R. Davis Fund for Lowville and Kenneth V. and Jeannette Remp Sawyer Community Fund Seek 2019 Proposals

WATERTOWN — The deadline to submit grant proposals for funding from two community-based funds that together award up to $40,000 is drawing near.

    Nonprofit organizations that serve residents in the Village and Town of Lowville are encouraged to apply for 2019 grant funding through the George R. Davis Fund for Lowville at the Northern New York Community Foundation. Complete proposals must be received or postmarked by Friday, April 19, 2019.

Deadline Nears to Submit Proposals for LEAD Impact Grant Funding

$25,000 Available for Nonprofits Focused on Child Care, Early Childhood Development in the Tri-County Area

    The deadline to submit requests for grant funding from the Northern New York Community Foundation’s LEAD Council Impact Grant Program is fast approaching.

    The Foundation’s LEAD Council welcomes proposals from nonprofit organizations in Jefferson, Lewis and St. Lawrence counties that are focused on child care or early childhood development. The Council has committed to address these needs across the region as its strategic focus in 2019. Council members will evaluate each proposal for funding and has up to $25,000 award, which could be shared between multiple organizations and awardees.

Funding Available for Nonprofits Helping the Underserved Along St. Lawrence River

Community Foundation Announces 2019 Opportunities Through the Lighthouse Fund

    The Lighthouse Fund at the Northern New York Community Foundation has up to $2,000 available in 2019 grant funding to support nonprofit organizations that serve Cape Vincent and Clayton residents.

    This geographic-specific charitable fund was established in 2014 as a resource to local nonprofits that provide critical programs and services to underserved and vulnerable populations in the two St. Lawrence River communities. Nonprofit organizations that conduct programs, projects or initiatives to assist all residents in need are encouraged to apply.

Up to $20,000 Available for Orchestral Performances in Watertown Area

Community Foundation Announces 2019 Funding Opportunities; Proposals Due April 19

    The Northern New York Community Foundation invites nonprofit organizations or government entities to apply for up to $20,000 in 2019 grant funding to produce live orchestral music performances in the Watertown area.

    The concerts must take place after Sept. 1, 2019, but before July 31, 2020. The fund is made possible through the Community Foundation’s Orchestral Music Fund for Watertown area performances.

We are excited to share the Week 3 Scholarship Challenge Leaderboard!

In Jefferson County, Sackets Harbor Central took the lead with 50 percent student participation; In Lewis County, South Lewis Central held onto the lead, increasing to 25.35 percent student participation; and in St. Lawrence County, Colton-Pierrepont Central held onto the lead, still with 23.08 percent student participation.

All schools have a chance to win Community Foundation grant funding by increasing student participation in the scholarship program to at least 25 percent of the senior class. 

The first round of grants will be determined in a Facebook Live event on Monday, February 23! That means schools only have one more week to increase student participation to 25 percent or more of the senior class to be eligible for the first round of Scholarship Challenge grants. So far, only THREE schools meet the threshold for the first round of grants!

Seniors: Do you plan to continue your education in college or trade or technical school? Winter break is the perfect opportunity to complete the Community Foundation’s online common application at bit.ly/nnycf-scholarships today and help your school win!

We are pleased to announce a pair of strategic initiatives to support the longevity and capacity of tri-county nonprofits.

The Northern New York Community Foundation is launching a $250,000 matching commitment to build existing nonprofit endowment funds the Foundation stewards. Ten individual matching grants of $25,000 will be awarded to each participating organization on a first-come, first-served basis.

The Foundation is also introducing the Nonprofit Capacity Building Initiative, a new grant program to help strengthen the effectiveness of local nonprofits.
