Applications for Funding Support are Due by Friday, April 24
WATERTOWN — A new Community Fund Grant Program at the Northern New York Community Foundation is now accepting applications from local nonprofits that make an impact in specific communities.
A variety of donors have helped establish charitable funds at the Community Foundation to benefit local villages, towns, and communities. The Foundation is the responsible steward of these community funds. This year, the Foundation is pooling these place-based funds into one grant application to magnify their impact across Northern New York.
The Foundation encourages tri-county nonprofits to submit a proposal that is a top priority and enhances the quality of life in their respective communities. The application must include a clear description of the request, summary of community impact, and attainable project outcomes.
Eligible organizations will select the community that will be impacted by their efforts in the grant application, which is available online at bit.ly/grant-portal.
Three community funds featured
The George R. Davis Fund for Lowville will consider proposals through this program benefiting the quality of life in the Village and Town of Lowville. Mr. Davis was actively involved in this community and served for 20 years as the Lewis County Judge. He created a legacy fund to support Lowville upon his passing in 2010. Up to $20,000 is available to award from this fund.
The Six Town Community Fund is included in this round of the Community Fund Grant Program. This fund supports priority projects and programs in the towns of Adams, Ellisburg, Henderson, Lorraine, Rodman, and Worth. Up to $13,000 in total funding is available to award this grant cycle.
Nonprofit organizations that received a Six Town Community Fund grant in December are not eligible to apply for new funding in this round. Please contact the Foundation with any questions.
The Clifton-Fine Community Fund is also included in this grant program. This geographic fund supports projects benefiting residents of Clifton, Cranberry Lake, Fine, Newton Falls, Oswegatchie, Star Lake, and Wanakena. In this round, up to $7,000 is available for nonprofits to pursue. If you have an open grant through this community fund, please contact the Foundation to determine your eligibility for a new submission.
Program to support other communities
Five additional territories are included as part of the Community Fund Grant Program. Those communities are: Antwerp, Cape Vincent, Clayton, Gouverneur, and the City of Watertown. Nonprofits with projects or efforts supporting these areas are encouraged to apply.
