Applications for Up to $6,000 in Available Funding Due Tuesday, Aug. 25
WATERTOWN — Nonprofit organizations that serve residents of the Clifton-Fine region in St. Lawrence County may now apply for 2020 grant funding from the Clifton-Fine Community Fund of the Northern New York Community Foundation.
The fund supports projects, activities, and initiatives that enhance the quality of life for residents of Cranberry Lake, Fine, Oswegatchie, Star Lake, Newton Falls and Wanakena. Grant applications must be received or postmarked no later than Tuesday, Aug. 25, 2020. Nonprofit, 501(c)(3) organizations are eligible and encouraged to apply.
Successful projects or programs should advance community programs, projects and initiatives that will have yearlong, meaningful impact across the region.
This year, the geographic-specific fund will award up to $6,000, which includes $1,000 from the Lester Allen and Stephen Moyer Fund of the Community Foundation that supports projects in the Clifton-Fine region, with an emphasis on the Wanakena area.
Five projects were awarded grants totaling $5,900 from the Clifton-Fine Community Fund last year. Grant awards also included support from the Lester Allen and Stephen Moyer Fund. The recipients were:
- Friends of Clifton-Fine Golf Course — $2,600 to furnish a public deck/meeting space
- Wanakena Historical Association — $1,500 to help organize archives and collections
- Cranberry Lake North Shore Hub — $800 for two outdoor public benches at a new community center
- Clifton Community Library — $500 to support young adult classes on that encourage healthy living habits
- Little Theater in the Woods — $500 to support children’s theater performance
The Community Foundation collaborates with the Clifton-Fine region’s Smart Growth Committee and the Clifton-Fine Economic Development Fund on the stewardship of applications and grants.
