Funding Available to Support Live Orchestral Music, Tree Planing in Watertown Area; Essential Needs in St. Lawrence River Communities
WATERTOWN — An April 24 deadline to submit grant proposals for funding from three community-specific opportunities that together award up to $25,000 is this fast approaching.
The Community Foundation invites nonprofit organizations or government entities to apply for up to $20,000 in grant funding through the Orchestral Fund of the Northern New York Community Foundation to produce live orchestral music performances in the Watertown area.
The concerts must take place after Sept. 1, 2020, but before July 31, 2021. Eligible organizations for this funding opportunity must have at least 20 performers and are required to have an instrumental component. Past recipients include the Orchestra of Northern New York, Trinity Concert Series, and the Northern Choral Society, among others, for their respective concert seasons or local performances in Watertown. As public health concerns over large gatherings may continue, organizations are encouraged to be flexible in how they propose delivery of their programs.
Carolyn Whitney Fund Supports Tree Planting
The Northern New York Community Foundation encourages nonprofit organizations or government entities to apply for up to $3,000 in grant funding for tree planting initiatives in the City of Watertown.
Grant support is made possible through a legacy fund established by the estate of Carolyn Whitney. Since 2010, the Carolyn Whitney Fund of the Community Foundation has awarded more than $28,000 in grant support for 10 tree planting projects.
Lighthouse Fund Supports River Communities
The Lighthouse Fund of the Northern New York Community Foundation has up to $2,000 available in grant funding to support nonprofit organizations that serve Cape Vincent and Clayton residents.
This geographic-specific charitable fund was established in 2014 as a resource to local nonprofits that provide critical programs and services to underserved and vulnerable populations in the two St. Lawrence River communities. Nonprofit organizations that conduct programs, projects or initiatives to assist all residents in need are encouraged to apply.
Proposals for each of these grant opportunities must received or postmarked by Friday, April 24, 2020, for consideration. Awards will be announced early this summer.
