Deadline Fast Approaching to Apply for 2021-22 Foundation Scholarships

March 29, 2021 By admin

Community Foundation Offers Tri-County Students More Opportunities for Support Than Ever Before

WATERTOWN — The deadline to apply for Northern New York Community Foundation scholarships is fast approaching for Jefferson, Lewis, and St. Lawrence county students.

Members of the graduating class of 2021 who plan to enroll in post-secondary programs this fall must complete their applications through the Community Foundation’s online scholarship portal by this Thursday, April 1. The application portal may be accessed from the Foundation’s home page at nnycf.org by clicking on the scholarship button, which redirects users to the application portal.

High school seniors from Jefferson, Lewis and St. Lawrence counties who will enroll as full-time undergraduates this fall may apply for a one-year, freshman scholarship. Students pursuing technical, trade or vocational school may also apply and should complete the same application. Students should thoroughly read all application instructions.

Since 1980, the Community Foundation has provided more than $19 million in scholarship awards to students who live in the tri-county region. The Community Foundation annually administers nearly 400 restricted scholarships established by individual donors as well as scholarship funds on behalf of 32 school districts throughout Jefferson, Lewis, and St. Lawrence counties.

“This year, we are blessed to have more scholarship opportunities than ever before, making it even more critical to have a high student application rate. Given the number and diversity of funding available, every student should consider completing an application by the upcoming deadline,” said Rande Richardson, Community Foundation executive director. “The chances of a student receiving some form of assistance is at an all-time high and there are scholarships that have criteria that may perfectly align with certain educational paths and others that are very broad. We want to help so we hope students will take a moment to express their interest and intent through a fairly simple online process.”

Students can now apply online using the same 2021-22 Scholarship Application for several scholarships that previously required unique applications, including: 10th Mountain Division (Light) Scholarship; George C. Boldt Scholarship; Vici and Steve Diehl Foundation Graduate Scholarships; Frances Anderson Luck Foundation Scholarship; North Country Goes Green Irish Festival Scholarship; North Pleasant Street (Watertown) Scholarship; Northpole Fire Company Inc. Scholarship; North Side Legacy Fund Scholarship; Rotary Purple Heart Scholarship; Michelle D. Salisbury Scholarship; Shaw Harbor Foundation Scholarship; and all Thousand Islands Foundation scholarships.

Contact Mary Perrine, coordinator of partnerships, 315-782-7110, or maryp@nnycf.org, with questions about Community Foundation scholarships. Visit nnycf.org, to learn more about scholarships and to access the application portal.
