Grant Funding Available Through Dale Kenyon Community Fund For Organizations Serving Town of Clayton

Non-profits organizations providing vital programs and services to citizens in the town of Clayton are encouraged to submit a grant application for consideration to receive support through the Dale Kenyon Community Fund. This geographic-specific fund was created in 2013 as a component fund administered by the Northern New York Community Foundation.

The Dale Kenyon Community Fund is designed to award grants annually to non-profit agencies enhancing the quality of life for residents in the town of Clayton. Three organizations received support totaling $5,000 in 2015. The recipients were: [Read more…]

Grant Application Available for George Davis Fund for Lowville

The grant application for the Northern New York Community Foundation’s George R. Davis Fund for Lowville is now available. Mr. Davis spent most of his life as a Lowville resident and served as Lewis County judge for more than 20 years. Upon his death in 2010, Mr. Davis created a unique legacy by establishing a community fund that would benefit the citizens in the village and town of Lowville forever. A variety of local programs and projects have garnered support through this permanent philanthropic resource.

Legacy of Dr. David G. Gregor Approaches $2 Million

The community legacy of the late Dr. David G. Gregor will now reach further. An additional half-million dollars was recently distributed to three local organizations he supported during his lifetime. The Northern New York Community Foundation, Jefferson Community College Foundation and Samaritan Medical Center Foundation all received additional bequests this month. Dr. Gregor, a retired general surgeon and Watertown native, who died on August 18, 2013 at the age of 84, was a quiet but generous supporter and donor to many of the area’s charitable organizations. Community Foundation Awards Nearly $50,000 in Grants

The Northern New York Community Foundation’s board of directors recently approved a $15,000 grant to become a co-presenting sponsor to help launch WPBS-TV’s “GPS for Success” career exploration and development program. The grant will assist with costs related to the development and implementation of the multi-phase project.

Four Youth Philanthropy Councils Award Nearly $40,000 in Community Grants

Four Youth Philanthropy Councils at the Northern New York Community Foundation awarded nearly $40,000 in grants to support non-profit organizations in Jefferson, Lewis and St. Lawrence counties. The grants were approved by the Community Foundation’s board of directors and advisory committees.

In Jefferson County, Faith Fellowship Christian School held its lead with 100 percent student participation! Sackets Harbor Central remains a strong second with 50 percent participation and four additional schools — Belleville Henderson Central, Immaculate Heart Central, LaFargeville Central, and Alexandria Central each passed 25 percent student participation.

In Lewis County, Copenhagen Central held the lead while RVMS and South Lewis Central remain above 25 percent student participation. In St. Lawrence County, Colton-Pierrepont Central held onto its lead with 26.92 percent student participation.

Seniors: Only NINE DAYS left until the March 15 application deadline! Do you plan to continue your education in college or trade or technical school? Money for your future is waiting!
