Grant Funding Opportunity Supports Local School-Based Character Education Programs

Up to $2,500 in Available for Tri-County Schools through the Daniel J. Briggs Fund for Integrity

     WATERTOWN — Tri-county school districts seeking support for character education programs, social me-dia safety initiatives, and bullying prevention are encouraged to apply to the Daniel J. Briggs Fund for Integrity of the Northern New York Community Foundation.

     Applications for grant funding that focus on character education and efforts to create positive student environments on school campuses will receive priority consideration. Up to $2,500 is currently available with applications accepted on a rolling basis.

Air Products Greater Massena Community Fund Announces Inaugural Grant Recipients

Five Organizations Will Share $32,500 for Work in Greater Massena Community

     MASSENA — Air Products, in collaboration with the Northern New York Community Foundation, is pleased to announce the recipients of the inaugural Air Products Greater Massena Community Fund grant awards. The fund, which was established in May through a $50,000 grant from the Air Products Foundation to the Northern New York Community Foundation, awarded a total of $32,500 to five organizations that are making a positive impact on the Greater Massena community.

     Grant recipients include: The Holistic Life Foundation; The Salvation Army of Massena; The Massena Arts and Theater Association; The Police Activities League of Massena; and Massena Memorial Hospital.

Community Foundation’s LEAD Council Launches Annual Holiday Giving Initiative

$5,000 Matching Challenge will Double Gifts to LEAD Holiday Giving Fund

     WATERTOWN — The LEAD Council of the Northern New York Community Foundation is working to help bring joy to seniors across the tri-county region this holiday season.

     The advisory committee of young professionals is kicking off its annual LEAD Holiday Giving initiative to support Jefferson, Lewis, and St. Lawrence counties. To begin, the Council’s LEAD Holiday Giving Fund at the Community Foundation will provide a $5,000 matching challenge. Each gift to the fund will be matched, dollar-for-dollar, up to $5,000.

Community Foundation’s VanNess Family Fund Supports Four Potsdam-Area Nonprofits

Grants Totaling $16,000 Aid Efforts to Strengthen Arts, Culture, History, and Wellness

     POTSDAM — Four nonprofit organizations serving greater Potsdam residents will share $16,000 in grant funding thanks to the generosity of the late John S. and Dorotha T. VanNess who continue to strengthen the community they loved.

     Through a series of new grant awards that impact the Potsdam area, John and Dorotha’s commitment to the community endures. The John and Dorotha VanNess Family Fund of the Northern New York Community Foundation recently approved $16,000 in support for four nonprofits that deliver arts, culture, history, and wellness-based programs.

Community Foundation Partners with Dyson Foundation to Provide $20,000 to Help With Lewis County Flood Relief

Snow Belt Housing to Manage Applications for Funding from Residents in Need

     LOWVILLE — The Northern New York Community Foundation, in partnership with the Dyson Foundation, is pleased to announce $20,000 in grant support to help Snow Belt Housing provide emergency relief to Lewis County residents impacted by summer flooding.

     The Community Foundation and the Dyson Foundation will each provide $10,000 to aid residents with documented losses.

We are pleased to announce 20 Community Spirit Youth Giving Challenge winning students who will each present a $1,000 grant award to a nonprofit organization they selected.

Based on the quality of entries received this year, the Community Foundation has doubled the number of winners, which also doubles the impact that grant awards will have across the tri-county region.
