The Northern New York Community Foundation Youth Philanthropy Council welcomes grant requests from nonprofit organizations of all types for projects, programs or initiatives that positively impact the quality of life in Jefferson, Lewis and St. Lawrence counties. The council will evaluate each proposal and has up to $20,000 in grant funding to award.
Community Foundation Launches Second Year of $10,000 Community Spirit Youth Giving Challenge
Program open to 7th and 8th grade students
in Jefferson, Lewis and St. Lawrence counties
The Northern New York Community Foundation is again offering the Community Spirit Youth Giving Challenge to engage middle-school students in exploring their community and supporting local non-profit organizations. This is the second year of the program. The program is made possible by Community Foundation annual fund donors as well as a gift from Community Bank, N.A.
$15,000 Now Available Through Six Town Community Fund Through Support From Family Fund
The generosity of Charles and Fern Brown will continue to make a meaningful difference throughout southern Jefferson County this year.
Through the Charles and Fern Brown Fund at the Northern New York Community Foundation, an additional $10,000 has been allocated to support grantmaking through the Six Town Community Fund this year. With this generous grant from the Brown’s legacy fund, up to $15,000 will be available to support non-profit programs, projects and initiatives enhancing the quality of life in the Six Town communities.
Community Foundation Grants $20,000 to Support Meals on Wheels of Greater Watertown
The Northern New York Community Foundation recently awarded a $20,000 grant to Meals on Wheels of Greater Watertown to help ensure the program can continue to reach long-term sustainability.
Scholarship Established in Memory of Massena Native
A new, permanent endowed scholarship fund has been established at the Northern New York Community Foundation to honor the legacy of Massena native, Lorraine Power Tharp. Mrs. Tharp graduated as salutatorian in 1966 from Massena Central School. She was the daughter of former St. Lawrence County District Attorney, William H. Power Jr. and Oske S. Power.
