Rock Charitable Fund offers support for St. Lawrence County’s churches, cemeteries, places of historical significance, and military veterans programs

    WATERTOWN — Charitable organizations, churches, cemeteries or governmental entities that serve St. Lawrence County residents are encouraged to apply for 2020 grant funding through the Rock Charitable Fund, a permanent component fund of the Northern New York Community Foundation.

    Grant support is available to qualified organizations whose missions and efforts align with the fund’s charitable purposes, which are: for the maintenance and preservation of churches and cemeteries in St. Lawrence County; for the preservation and maintenance of places of legitimate historical significance in the county; and to benefit and/or assist veterans of the United States military who reside in St. Lawrence County for their medical and/or recreational needs. Grants in support of veterans will only be awarded to qualified organizations and cannot be made directly to individuals.

Foundation Extends 2020-21 Scholarship Application Deadlines

Freshman Scholarship Applications Now Due May 1; Evergreen STEM June 1

     WATERTOWN — The Northern New York Community Foundation has extended 2020-2021 filing deadlines for its Freshman Scholarship and a handful of others to accommodate students and school officials working through the COVID-19 pandemic.

     The deadline to submit completed applications for the Community Foundation’s 2020-2021 Freshman Scholarship is now Friday, May 1. All students who have reliable Internet access are encouraged to complete their applications through the Foundation’s online portal, access to which can be found at www.nnycf.org/scholarships/applications.

Deadline Nears for Three Jefferson County-Based Grants

Funding Available to Support Live Orchestral Music, Tree Planing in Watertown Area; Essential Needs in St. Lawrence River Communities

    WATERTOWN — An April 24 deadline to submit grant proposals for funding from three community-specific opportunities that together award up to $25,000 is this fast approaching.

    The Community Foundation invites nonprofit organizations or government entities to apply for up to $20,000 in grant funding through the Orchestral Fund of the Northern New York Community Foundation to produce live orchestral music performances in the Watertown area.

Deadline for Two Regional Grant Opportunities Fast Approaching

George R. Davis Fund for Lowville, Kenneth V. and Jeannette Remp Sawyer Community Fund Seek Proposals; Nonprofits Encouraged to Apply

    WATERTOWN — Grant applications for two community-based funds will be considered through late April with up to $55,000 in available in funding support.

    Nonprofit organizations that serve residents in the Village and Town of Lowville are encouraged to apply for grant funding through the George R. Davis Fund for Lowville of the Northern New York Community Foundation. Complete proposals must be received or postmarked by Friday, April 24, 2020.

The Youth Philanthropy Council of the Northern New York Community Foundation is pleased to announce $25,000 in grant funding for six tri-county nonprofit organizations that will support a diverse range of community programs and initiatives.

Council Chair April Wang, a second-year member and 2026 Watertown High School graduate, said the Council had many worthy requests for grant funding this year.

“Guided by a commitment to thoughtful stewardship and community impact, the Youth Philanthropy Council has carefully selected grant recipients whose work addresses critical needs and fosters meaningful progress,” Ms. Wang said. “I am beyond proud of the diligence and purpose reflected in the Council’s work this year.”

We are pleased to invite the public to experience an evening of inspiring music at the annual Sidney T. Cox Memorial Concert on Friday, July 10, at 7:30 p.m. at the Clayton Opera House, featuring The Syracuse Orchestra.

Presented with support from the Community Foundation in partnership with the Thousand Islands Performing Arts Fund (TIPAF), the annual concert honors the enduring legacy of Sidney T. Cox.

This year’s performance blends beloved classical masterworks with familiar favorites from Broadway and the silver screen. Audiences will enjoy selections from Wicked, The Sound of Music, Jurassic Park, Beauty and the Beast, Kiki’s Delivery Service, and Wicked, alongside works by Aaron Copland, Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov, Duke Ellington and others.

Together with the Italian-American Civic Association and Immaculate Heart Central School, we are pleased to announce the 2026 recipients of the Clarence B. “Boots” Gaffney Award.

Julianna L. Delaney was selected as the women’s recipient and Jameson M. Lettiere was named as this year’s men’s honoree.
