Planned Improvements Include Roadway Reconstruction, Infrastructure Upgrades
WATERTOWN — The Northern New York Community Foundation is pleased to partner with Blessed Sacrament Parish — St. Anthony’s, St. Patrick’s, and Holy Family Churches — to steward charitable gifts in support of a $1 million campaign to revitalize Watertown’s Glenwood Cemetery.
Since its consecration in June 1888, Glenwood Cemetery has been the family plot for many. It serves as the principal Catholic cemetery in the Watertown area for many North Country neighbors and relatives.
“Glenwood is an important part of our community’s heritage and history. We are eager to partner to help raise funds to care for it and its linkage to past generations,” said Rande S. Richardson, Community Foundation executive director.
Planned improvements to the cemetery include roadway reconstruction, a columbarium, and upgrades to infrastructure. To ensure sustainability of the project, the campaign fundraising goal includes ongoing maintenance and improvement costs. The campaign will work together with the Glenwood Cemetery Endowment Fund, established at the Community Foundation in 2021.
“Glenwood Cemetery is a community asset, home to our deceased loved ones, cherished Holy ground. It is our responsibility to maintain and improve the cemetery we love,” Blessed Sacrament Parish Pastor Father Mickey Demo said.
The cemetery will rely on gifts from dedicated donors to enable the full completion of the project. Its impact will have an enduring legacy on the community for generations to come.
Donors may make secure online gifts to the campaign at bit.ly/Revitalize-Glenwood. Gifts may also be mailed to: Northern New York Community Foundation, 131 Washington St., Watertown, NY 13601. Please note the Glenwood Revitalization Campaign with your gift.
