Watertown Sunrise Rotary Club Foundation Seeks Taste of the Town Grant Applications

Opportunity for $5,000 in Funding Open to All North Country Nonprofit Organizations

     WATERTOWN — Nonprofit organizations that serve residents of Jefferson, Lewis and St. Lawrence counties are encouraged to apply for the 2021 Watertown Sunrise Rotary Foundation Taste of the Town grant. The Watertown Sunrise Rotary Club Foundation is an affiliate fund of the Northern New York Community Foundation.

     “We encourage all North Country nonprofits to apply. Watertown Sunrise Rotary’s mission is ‘Service Above Self.’ By offering local nonprofit organizations this one-time grant, Sunrise Rotary creates a lasting partnership with them,” said Jennifer Loonan, Watertown Sunrise Rotary Club Taste of the Town chair. “Besides financial support, the selected organization benefits through visibility the event generates and has a chance to share their agency’s mission with a wide audience.”

Kenneth V. and Jeannette Remp Sawyer Community Fund Accepting 2021 Grant Proposals

Up to $50,000 Available for Nonprofits Serving Three Communities

     WATERTOWN — Nonprofit organizations that serve Boonville, Constableville, and Westernville residents should apply by Friday, April 23, for 2021 grant support through the Kenneth V. and Jeannette Remp Sawyer Community Fund at the Northern New York Community Foundation.

     The fund was established in 2018 to support programs, projects and initiatives that broadly impact the quality of life in Boonville, Constableville, and Westernville. The Northern New York Community Foundation administers this permanent, charitable legacy fund that makes grant awards annually. This year, up to $50,000 in grant funding is available.

Nonprofits Serving Lowville Residents Should Apply for 2021 Grant Support Now

Up to $15,000 Available Through the George R. Davis Fund for Lowville

     WATERTOWN — Nonprofit organizations that serve residents in the Village and Town of Lowville should apply by Friday, April 23, for 2021 grant support through the George R. Davis Fund for Lowville of the Northern New York Community Foundation.

     Mr. Davis was a longtime Lowville resident and served as a Lewis County judge for more than 20 years. This permanent charitable fund for the community became active following his death in 2010. This year, up to $15,000 is available in funding through this geographic-specific fund to support programs, projects, and initiatives that seek to improve quality of life in Lowville.

     A three-person committee reviews grant applications for the George R. Davis Fund each year. The committee evaluates each proposal on its merits using the “greatest positive impact on the community” as guiding criteria in making an award. Projects may be large or small.

Deadline Fast Approaching to Apply for 2021-22 Foundation Scholarships

Community Foundation Offers Tri-County Students More Opportunities for Support Than Ever Before     

WATERTOWN — The deadline to apply for Northern New York Community Foundation scholarships is fast approaching for Jefferson, Lewis, and St. Lawrence county students.

     Members of the graduating class of 2021 who plan to enroll in post-secondary programs this fall must complete their applications through the Community Foundation’s online scholarship portal by this Thursday, April 1. The application portal may be accessed from the Foundation’s home page at nnycf.org by clicking on the scholarship button, which redirects users to the application portal.

     High school seniors from Jefferson, Lewis and St. Lawrence counties who will enroll as full-time undergraduates this fall may apply for a one-year, freshman scholarship. Students pursuing technical, trade or vocational school may also apply and should complete the same application. Students should thoroughly read all application instructions.

Foundation Launches New Online Grant Application Portal, Announces Funding Opportunities

New Process Creates Efficiencies, Strengthens Stewardship of Grants to Nonprofits

     WATERTOWN — The Northern New York Community Foundation is pleased to announce the launch of a new online grant portal that features a variety of funding opportunities open to nonprofit organizations to review and apply.

     The Community Foundation is introducing its Grant Lifecycle Manager (GLM) system on its website today. The online portal allows nonprofits to create an organization user profile and apply for active grant opportunities. The Foundation encourages nonprofits to set up a single user account for the organization. The portal features a simple interface that guides users through step-by-step instructions on how to apply. Resources are available on the Foundation’s website, nnycf.org/grants, and on the portal’s log-in page to learn more about the process.

We are pleased to announce that the Rock Charitable Fund of the Northern New York Community Foundation has awarded $174,950 to 17 St. Lawrence County organizations. Grant funding will help preserve local history, improve churches, maintain cemeteries, and support military veterans in the county.

The Rock Charitable Fund was established at the Community Foundation in 2019 through a bequest from St. Lawrence County resident and retired U.S. Army Lieutenant Colonel Marjorie J. Rock, who passed in February 2017 at the age of 96.

“Because of Marjorie’s foresight and remarkable generosity, these projects can move forward when support for this kind of work is often hard to find,” said Kraig Everard, Community Foundation director of philanthropy. “Through the Community Foundation’s stewardship, her vision comes to life, supporting projects that reflect the fabric of St. Lawrence County communities.”

Applications for grant support from the Maxine Quigg Women in Business Fund of the Northern New York Community Foundation are now being accepted through Friday, May 1, for 2026 awards.

This permanent Community Foundation fund was established in July 2021 with a goal to increase local mentorship, volunteerism, civic and community engagement, and investment. Its mission is to perpetuate the life and legacy of Maxine Quigg by supporting and empowering women entrepreneurs in Jefferson, Lewis, and St. Lawrence counties to succeed in their pursuits and realize their full potential.

Maxine was a successful real estate broker, community and business leader in Jefferson County who passed away unexpectedly in April 2021. At the time of her passing she was serving on the Community Foundation’s Board of Directors.
