Community Foundation Announces Second Quarter Funding Opportunities

Three Local Schools Share Funding for Programs that Strengthen Campus Culture

Daniel J. Briggs Fund for Integrity Supports a Host of Anti-Bullying Initiatives

     WATERTOWN — Three Jefferson County schools will share $2,000 in grant funding from the Daniel J. Briggs Fund for Integrity of the Northern New York Community Foundation to build respect and leadership, help prevent bullying, and promote positive student behavior.

     The charitable fund was established at the Community Foundation in 2015 to help provide resources for key educational programs that focus on bullying prevention and character education in local schools and communities. The fund also supports professional development initiatives to educate school administrators, teachers, faculty, and staff of school districts in Jefferson, Lewis, and St. Lawrence counties. Programs may focus on, but are not limited to, leadership, student responsibility, respect, and trust for the community.

Wilcox Community Fund for Theresa Now Accepting Proposals for 2023 Grant Funding

Up to $3,000 Available for Nonprofit Organizations Serving the Greater Theresa Area

     THERESA — Nonprofit organizations serving residents of the Theresa area are encouraged to apply for up to $3,000 in funding from the Wilcox Community Fund for Theresa of the Northern New York Community Foundation.

     Successful projects, programs or initiatives should have meaningful impact and support the quality of life and vibrancy of Theresa and the greater Indian River Lakes Region of Jefferson County. Areas of focus include, but are not limited to health and wellness, essential needs, arts and culture, historic preservation, economic development, recreational and environmental programs, community revitalization and beautification, youth development, quality of life activities and projects, and education programs.

Community Foundation’s LEAD Council Awards $20,000 in Impact Grants to Tri-County Organizations

Eight Nonprofits Will Share Funding to Strengthen Quality of Life Across Region

     WATERTOWN —  A mobile meat canning event, new adaptive recreation equipment, a community pavilion project, STEM-related educational resources, and a pair of programs that provide critical and essential needs for families will each receive a share of $20,000 in grant funding from the LEAD Council of the Northern New York Community Foundation.

     A recent series of LEAD Impact Grant Program awards will support eight tri-county nonprofit organizations. After thoughtful evaluation of nearly two-dozen applications for funding, Council members sought to address current community needs while supporting a wide breadth of tri-county organizations whose work improves the quality of life in Northern New York.

We are excited to share the Week 6 Scholarship Challenge Leaderboard!

In Jefferson County, Faith Fellowship Christian School held its lead with 100 percent student participation! Sackets Harbor Central remains a strong second with 50 percent participation and four additional schools — Belleville Henderson Central, Immaculate Heart Central, LaFargeville Central, and Alexandria Central each passed 25 percent student participation.

In Lewis County, Copenhagen Central held the lead while RVMS and South Lewis Central remain above 25 percent student participation. In St. Lawrence County, Colton-Pierrepont Central held onto its lead with 26.92 percent student participation.
